ADVENT CHRISTIAN CHURCH OF THE HIGHLANDS

MEET OUR PASTOR

"The Rev. Mark D. Woolfington began his ministry at the Church of the Highlands in October of 2003.  He has previously served congregations in Texas and California.  Pastor Mark was born in near-by Palatine, IL, where he graduated from Palatine High School in 1989.  He attended Aurora University, where he met his wife, Kathy, of Ballwin, MO.  After graduating  in 1993 with a Bachelor's Degree in Christian Studies and Sociology, Pastor Mark attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, where he received a Master of Divinity in 1996.

Pastor Mark's first full-time pastorate was the First Advent Christian Church of
Tustin, California.  Pastor Mark led this historic congregation for 7 years
before returning to the Chicago area in the fall of 2003.  He is currently
enrolled in the Doctor of Ministry program at Fuller Theological Seminary in
Pasadena, CA.

The Lord has blessed Pastor Mark and Kathy with two sons, Joshua, 4, and Jacob,
who was born at La Grange Memorial Hospital this past summer.  Kathy, in addition to being a mom, worked for Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Orange County, CA, and is now a teacher's aide in the La Grange School District.

Pastor Mark is active in several organizations: Church Planting Resource www.geocities.com/cpr2050/ ,  a foundation dedicated to planting new churches, Fire Fighter Ministries, www.theultimatefirehouse.com  which serves Firefighters and other emergency workers, and several Civil War related groups.  In addition to
spending time with his family, Pastor Mark enjoys the Chicago Bears, the White
Sox, Civil War re-enacting, playing golf, and hunting the wild turkey that live
on his in-law's farm in Roberstville, MO.

Our pastor's vision for the Church of the Highlands is for us to be a Church that ministers to the families of its local neighborhood, community, and greater Chicagoland.  He invites you to come and be a part of that vision.

Thanks very much.
